
Stefka Nikolova Stefanova, born in Nadezhda (Sliven, Bulgaria), is a Romani author of poetry and short prose. She published *The Life of a Romani Woman (Gypsy)* (Pétra Editions) in 2010 (translated into French by Cécile Canut and Maria Atanassova). She worked for 12 years as a mediator for Médecins du Monde in Sliven. She contributes to the research of sociologist Alexei Pamporov. She continues to write. She has been working on the Nadezhda (Hope) project for 18 years with Cécile Canut.
In 2025, she co-directed the series *Nadezhda/Hope* (7 episodes), filmed between 2007 and 2022 in Nadezhda. She is also co-director of the feature film *Between Days, Between Nights* (to be released in September 2026), based on the *Hope* series and dedicated to her life and reflections as a Romani woman living in a walled-off neighborhood.
