Synopsis
Ja, a young woman from Cabral, did not leave to “seek her fortune” elsewhere like so many others in Cape Verde. She never left her village. Ja decides to travel around her island to meet women who, like her, devote themselves to the amazing musical practice of batuke. During the journey, we discover “those who stay” and who, through this form of expression, overcome together the harshness and pain of separation.
